The MVT Digital Library

Over the last 50 years, the MVT has acquired thousands of magazines, books, microfiches and paperwork. They have been kept in deep storage for most of this time, but in 2022, the Council of Management decided to remove it from storage, catalogue and sort it and convert it to a format so it can be accessed by and be of use to future generations.
The first task was to catalogue everything, then prioritise and streamline the collection – some were duplicated, some readily available online elsewhere and some not even relevant to military vehicles. This stage took many hours of work but was completed in 2025. The MVT then provided the funding to process the first set of publications and in 2026 the first 104 were digitised.
We are working to add them to the collection below and in the meantime we are applying for funding from external bodies to digitise further manuals and booklets in our possesion and we are hoping that our members
will share any material they feel will be of use to others.
If you have a manual or booklet that you would like to share, please contact the chair.

As a charity dedicated to the restoration and maintenance of historic military vehicles, we see this as an important part of our work in supporting the owners and restorers of these vehicles, now and in the future.
Furthermore, by making them publically accessible, we are fulfilling our aim of helping to advance public knowledge and understanding of our historic vehicles and appreciation of their contribution to ou rich military heritage.

HOW TO LOCATE A MANUAL

If you know the manufacurer of the vehicle, simply enter the manufacturer/vehicle name into the search bar at the top left hand corner of the book shelf.

OR
Publications are numbered according to the order in which they were digitised
They are ordered on the shelf in order that we received them
The index underneath the shelves lists each publication by number, title and description. Some have a date, where available
Locate the book you want in the index and copy the number or title
To locate a publication on the shelf, simply type/paste that number or title into the brown search bar at the top left hand side of the bookshelf and search; this filters all the relevant publications
Then click on the thumbnail image of publication you require to open and read it

Take a screen shot of the page you require and resize it to suit your needs. Please see bottom of page for further help in taking print screens.

How to take Print Screens

Common Methods (Windows)

Capture Specific Area (Snipping Tool): Press Windows key + Shift + S. Your screen darkens, and you can click and drag to select the area you want to snip. Click on the pop-up at the bottom right of your screen to open the snipping tool and the print using the print command in th emenu that drops down from the top right hand corner.

Full Screen (Copy to Clipboard): Press the PrtScn (or Print Screen) key. Then, open an image editor (like Paint) and press Ctrl + V to paste and save. Then print.
Full Screen (Save as File): Press the Windows key + PrtScn. Your screen will dim briefly, and the screenshot saves as a PNG file in your Pictures > Screenshots folder.
Active Window Only: Select the window you want, then press Alt + PrtScn. Paste it into an app like Paint

For Tablets or Laptops without PrtScn

Use the Fn + Windows key + Space Bar or Windows logo key + Volume Down button (on tablets).
