Part of our role to support members and the general public, involves keeping abreast of current developments and sharing issues

Esso Synergy +99 Petrol.
From September 2023, Esso Synergy Supreme+ 99 petrol which was supplied ethanol free in some parts of the country has transitioned to contain up to a maximum of 5% ethanol at all Esso pumps irrespective of which part of the country they are located. The labelling at the pumps will be E5 for Synergy Supreme+ 99 unleaded.
Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Draft Bill
This legislation is being introduced following the suicide bombing of the Manchester Arena in 2017 to address the lack of preparedness of the venue operators and public services for such an incident. ‘Martyn’s Law’ will place a requirement on those responsible for certain venues to consider the threat from terrorism and implement appropriate and proportionate mitigation measures.

The Bill will require “qualifying premises” to carry out standard annual terrorism evaluations,  Premises with a capacity of more than 100 will have a standard level of duties while those with a capacity of more than 800 will have enhanced duties,

Many event venues used and visited by our members will be required to comply, which may impact on future costs and logistics. There is concernthat smaller venues will be disproportionately impacted. The FBHVC is monitoring the progress of the legislation.
The Firearms Act 2023
The Act received Royal Assent in September 2023, confirming it as new legislation. It is aimed at criminals who possess ammunition components with an obvious intention to utilise them for criminal activities and no other plausible explanation. The BASC have investigated and are happy that people in possession of ammunition components for a legtimate reason will not be affected.

Tracker devices used to steal vehicles
Tracking devices are being used by thieves. They are attaching small tracking devices to valuable trailers and vehicles while they are attending shows and then use them to locate valuable vehicles that they can then target for theft.

Members are advised to check vehicles  before leaving any event. Look for anything taped to a chassis and check nooks and crannies such as inside trailer electrics.
