North Lancashire and Cumbria Area
Area Secretary: Jonny Newbould: email [email protected] |
We are a large, active, long established and friendly group, covering a large area from Preston in the south up to the Scottish Borders. We meet every first Thursday in the month in a lovely Pub called the Royal Oak in Garstang. Our Area Secretary is Jonny Newbould, who has served on the Council of Management as National Safety officer for 10 years.
Our members own a wide range of vehicles including some rare armoured, wartime and many post-war vehicles. Many of our members are undertaking ambitious restorations (see below) and are always on the look-out for the next project. We also include many re-enactors and living history enthusiasts in our ranks, so our activities cover a wide range of types of events with many families taking part.
Although we attend events all over the North and Midlands, we are closely involved in the organisation of many local events. In 2016, we established the Brougham Hall Wartime Weekend which is still growing in strength every year and last year, we organised the vehicle and living history exhibits for the the inaugral Kirkby Stephen in the 1940s Weekend. We are also heavily involved in organising the Lytham Wartime Weekend (which welcomes 50,000 visitors a year), Scorton Steam Fair and The Fylde Show.
We are spoilt for choice when planning road runs - enjoying the stunning Lake District in the north, the beautiful Trough of Bowland in the east and Yorkshire to the north-east as well as the Fylde Peninsula and Coast to the west.
