Motor Insurance
You must have motor insurance to drive your vehicle on UK roads.
Third party insurance is the legal minimum. This means you are covered if you have an accident causing damage or injury to any other person, vehicle, animal or property. It does not cover any other costs, like repairs to your own vehicle.
Comprehensive vehicle insurance - also known as fully comprehensive - covers damage to yourself and your car, as well as compensating a third party if you are involved in an accident.

Insurance for Military Vehicles is an essential part of vehicle ownership and mandatory if the vehicle is to be driven on the roads or attend MVT events.
Military Vehicle insurance is a niche market, with a limited number of Insurers prepared to cover such vehicles, They base their premiums on numerous risk factors – vehicle type, performance, value, usage, mileage, claims history, repair costs (parts and labour), legislation, etc. Generally the insurers will make educated assumptions regarding the risks associated with each group on which they will base their premiums. These risks are constantly being re-assessed.
Owing to the size of the market, very few (if any) Insurance Companies will deal directly with vehicle owners. They market their policies via regulated Insurance brokers or Intermediaries- however, because of the relatively low (insurance) risk of these vehicles, and a competitive market for the business, premiums have remained low.
Current Insurance regulation means that the MVT is unable to recommend any particular Insurer and the choice of insurer/policy must be made by each individual member to suit their own circumstances. However, the MVT assists in the process by encouraging all Insurers to actively promote themselves to the membership in a clear and transparent manner and maintaining a dialogue with the partner firms who offer suitable policies. We recommend you obtain as many quotes as possible to ensure the policies they offer cover your requirements.
You need to shop around to find the company that best meets your needs.
