I have been a lifelong obsessive about military vehicles. My first experience was with Dale Johnson a close friend of my dad’s and who was chair of IMPS when they organised the very first War and Peace show in Tenterden. I didn’t attend that show but went to most of them for 20 or so years. Riding around is Dale’s DUKW, Matador and Sugga gave me a life-long love for old military vehicles.
I bought my first jeep as his first car at 21 and still own it now having taken it to Normandy many times, and broken down in it many times. I have recently bought a GMC CCKW 353 soft cab, which is taking up a lot of my time. As chair of the MVT, I am keen to give the charity some direction and make it more inclusive so that it can be around for another 50 years. |
