In Slovakia a tractor on their equivalent of SORN knocked a man off a ladder whilst been driven on private land. As a result of this the European Court ruled on the case and stated that there should be a requirement of compulsory insurance to cover any use of a vehicle. This could include classics (MV’s) on a SORN in the UK.
This could potentially include vehicles that are not currently required to have third party insurance, even static vehicles in museums, vehicles involved in motorsport and restoration projects. Cars that are in long term storage nor even SORN’d may also be caught up in the net.
The UK Government has a site that you can register your response to the ruling at gov.uk/vnuk or email firstname.lastname@example.org before the 31st of March, 2017.
