This was the 4th year that the MVT have put on a display at the National Memorial Arboretum Armed Forces Weekend. A total of 16 MVT members took 20 vehicles and put on our largest ever display. Some vehicles were on display both Saturday and Sunday and some just did a single day. The centre piece was a 25pdr, limber and Bedford MW. Post war vehicles were also well represented with the newest being a MAN HX60.
Originally this was an event where the South East Midlands area supplied all the vehicles but this was purely down to one of their members being on a NMA Veteran’s committee and a chance conversation with the NMA Events manager that’s how it all started. However, this year the surrounding MVT areas to Burton on Trent (home of the NMA) provided many of the vehicles, we even had two vehicles brought up from Wiltshire. As organiser I would like to thank everyone who supported this event. Quite a few members have already asked whether they can attend again next year so I think this says that everyone had a great weekend. The only real requirement is that vehicles are British or in British markings of any era. However, you will notice that the Willys jeep is in American markings but I didn’t get any offers of a British jeep and a show is not complete without an iconic jeep. So, if you have a SAS, British Airborne or any other branch of the armed forces jeep let me know if you can make it next year!
