Membership - Join the MVT

A message from the Membership Secretary. To all prospective members. You would be most welcome as a member of the Trust and I look forward to hearing from you.

There are many benefits of being a member. These Web Pages are just one small part. Our in house magazine, the Windscreen, which has been voted the best of it's kind in Europe is another.

There is the social side of Area meetings, the ready availability of technical information with access to the MVT Library and of course, no matter what vehicle you get, there is someone in the Trust that has had dealings with that type of vehicle before, either in the forces or has owned one themselves.

There is the  free access to all MVT Shows in the UK and the ability to show off your vehicle to the public at the numerous Shows the MVT organise throughout the UK and Europe.

There is the not inconsiderable insurance discounts that are available to members along with a host of other benefits from our Wants and Sales facility to the Vehicle Verification scheme. Details of all these benefits can be found in these Webpages.

If you want me to send you the latest edition of Windscreen before you decide to become a member, please send a cheque or card payment details for £5:00 to cover the cost of the magazine plus postage, and a copy will be in the post to you the same day. The £5:00 will of course, be refunded on joining.

From the Membership Secretary, 07 April 2011

For some inexplicable reason, we are experiencing localised problems with Royal Mail whereby delays of ten days or more between postage and delivery dates are not uncommon. Members applications for renewal or new memberships are being delayed to what the Membership Dept consider to be unacceptable levels. This is
also affecting outgoing mail so once the applications are processed and posted at this end, similar delays can be experienced in getting the letters delivered to our membership. Royal Mail are doing all they can to find the reason for this, but until this problem is resolved, please note there may not be the level of service our members have rightly come to expect from us. Please accept our apologies for this situation but it is totally outside our control.

We will keep our members informed of any developments.

If you have decided to join us, the quickest and easiest method of joining is right here on this webpage. Scroll down to find details.

Please note:

(1) Please do not forget the Membership Secretary is a volunteer so you will not always receive an immediate answer.

(2) Due to ever increasing costs the Membership Secretary is no longer able to return calls to mobile numbers. Please leave a landline number if you require a phone call from him.

(3) Please ensure that you notify the Membership Secretary of any change of address if you wish to continue to receive Windcreen, Greensheet and correspondence from him. If any items are returned "Not known at this address" or "Gone away" no further correspondence will be sent to the address on record.

Please be aware that by submitting an application for new membership or renewal you agree to abide by:

(1) the Code of Conduct and

(2) the terms of the Memorandum of Association and the Articles of Association View here

GIFT AID

Being a registered Charity, and qualifying for Gift Aid, the MVT can claim back from HM Customs and Revenue £0.28p of every pound of all subscriptions and donations received by the MVT from UK Taxpayers.

The first proviso is that those members making payments of this nature must have paid the equivalent in Income or Capital Gains Tax during the year in which the subscriptions/donations were paid.

The second proviso is that we have to ask you to complete a Gift Aid Declaration and submit it online or post it to Garry Anstee, MVT Membership Secretary, 25 Leith Road
Beare Green, Dorking, Surrey. RH5 4RG
or fax it to the Membership Secretary on +44 (0) 208 399 9560
and only then can we apply to HM Customs and Inland Revenue for the appropriate amount. Even if you have signed a Direct Debit form you need to sign the new formatted form which is statutory compliant.

It is important for you to note that signing a Gift Aid Declaration does not effect your tax position in any way unless you pay tax at a higher rate and then it is recommended that you inform your tax advisor/accountant in the usual way.

Please help the Trust and ultimately yourselves by Completing and Submitting a Gift Aid Declaration on line
