Land Rover Series III Lightweight owned by Lawrence Hayward
Land Rover Series III Lightweight, formerly 49 HG 92 was built in 1980 as Truck Utility General Service ½ Ton 4x4 Rover Series 3. It was delivered to the Central Vehicle Depot, Hilton, Derbyshire, in January 1981. In November 1982 it was delivered to the 4 th Light Regiment, Royal Artillery (later 4 th Field Regiment, RA) at Lille Barracks, Aldershot. In March 1984, 49 HG 92 was transferred to 7 th Parachute Regiment, Royal Horse Artillery, after the RHA arrived at Lille Barracks.  Despite being a 12 volt GS vehicle, there is evidence that during its service with either 4 th Field Regt RA or 7 th Para Regt. RHA, this Lightweight was fitted with at least one radio and possibly a radio table in the back of the vehicle. It is not known with which Batteries 49 HG 92 served. However 49 HG 92 stayed with 7 th Parachute Regiment RHA until it was put up for disposal in December 1990.
