Long wheel base series III Landrover 1971 owned by David Bell
LandroverLandrover
Manufactured in South Africa from a complete knock down kit and imported into the United Kingdom on the first of February 1987 when it was a hard top coloured white , it was registered as being manufactured in 1980 with the DVLC on a Q plate It's year of manufacture has been confirmed as 1971 and it is now on a J plate. Its chassis number is 91305883D and its engine number is 90276245E, the engine came out of an 88" manufactured 1974/5 a 2.25 petrol but do not know when it replaced the original engine except it was before it came out of service in 1986

It has four unusual features, two under slung petrol tanks beneath the front seats filled from their respective front wings (visible behind the door steps), a fresh water tank behind the passenger seat built into the box section before the rear wheel arch and filled from behind the passenger seat, a one piece front bench seat in need of recovering and there are also a series of holes along the front wing edges believed to have been for to hang a curtain of some kind from to protect the tyre walls from bush thorns, obviously I am not sure which are original features and which are later additions.

It was painted blue in the 1990's and green in 2005, I will be returning it to its original colour in stages, I now have a list of all previous keepers in the UK as it has made its way North and into my tender care.
