Included in the Forties theme and going by last year, some two hundred visiting aircraft will be expected, subject to weather conditions and apart from re-enactors, there’ll be classic cars, vintage agricultural machinery from steam, TVO to diesel, with ploughing & mass of military vehicles.
New this year will be the Saturday evening “Hop” in the music café with the Silverbird Music Show (a cockpit disco) with Fiona Harrison in Cabaret – tickets £8 in advance (available from our office) or £10 at the entrance, if there are any tickets left! Dress – in period of course. During Saturday afternoon, Squadronaire DJ 78 will be entertaining you with his forties collection in the Music Café along with Fiona’s Forces repertoire and the Silver bird music show again on Sunday afternoon. South Yorkshire Aircraft Museum (Aeroventure),Doncaster's Lakeside to commemorate the 20th Anniversary of the end of the Cold War. We would like to invite any military vehicle enthusiasts, re-enactors military/civilian or any other interested parties to join us. We are interested in having military vehicles and other emergency vehicles (i.e. Civil Defence, Fire, Police, St John's etc) manufactured between 1946 and 1991 We welcome living history displays/ attractions from the era. Area for camping (limited), vehicle displays, stands etc.
As 2011 is also the 20th anniversary of the "initial" stand-down of the Royal Observer Corps, there will a special day on the Sunday for those who served in the Corps. .
